Jowennah Hope Foundation - Our Work

Background of the
Jowennah Hope Foundation

Joyce Nalwoga is a Ugandan living in Canada, raised by a single mother in Nakawa Parish, Kampala. Her upbringing sparked a deep desire to support single mothers, improving their lives. As a former woman councillor and human rights activist, Joyce relocated to Canada for various reasons but didn't lose sight of her passion. She envisioned an NGO helping single mothers and vulnerable children in Kampala's ghettos.

  • Sharing her idea with close friends, they co-founded JOWENNAH HOPE FOUNDATION. The NGO aims to uplift single mothers and vulnerable children in Kampala's ghettos and Uganda, empowering them towards self-sustainability in food, shelter, health, education, and reducing early motherhood.

Transforming Lives
Across Kampala

Our work goes beyond immediate assistance to create lasting change. We've seen single mothers start successful businesses, children graduate from quality schools, and families break free from cycles of poverty. Each success story represents not just individual achievement, but the restoration of hope and dignity in Kampala's most vulnerable communities.

  • 600+ single mothers trained in vocational skills and entrepreneurship

  • 1,200+ children enrolled in quality education with nutritional support

  • 8 urban slum communities in Kampala actively supported with comprehensive services

Holistic Community
Development

We believe poverty is multidimensional and requires comprehensive solutions. Our integrated approach combines education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and psychosocial support to address the root causes of vulnerability in Kampala's urban communities. We work hand-in-hand with local partners to maximize impact and ensure sustainability.

  • Comprehensive education programs with nutritional support and school supplies

  • Mobile health clinics and maternal-child healthcare services in underserved areas

  • Partnerships with local schools, health facilities, and government agencies
